WOMEN RUN Inc. is a running-inspired lifestyle brand whose sole purpose is to unite strong women and encourage confident girls. WOMEN RUN Inc is a product and event-based, mission-driven business.
WOMEN RUN Inc. was founded in 2010 and includes the daughter inspired brand GIRLS RUN. This sub-brand was founded on the tag line: GIRLS RUN… on self-confidence!
WOMEN RUN Inc products are a badge of honor that acknowledge all that we do as multi-tasking women in today’s hectic world. Our WOMEN RUN Inc. events and virtual community creates a camaraderie that builds confidence and strong healthy bodies.
The WOMEN RUN Inc mission goes well beyond retail and “physical” therapy. As a socially responsible company, WOMEN RUN Inc. donates 10% of all profits to organizations that help women achieve their dreams and brighten the future for little girls. WOMEN RUN Inc supports grassroots charities that provide economic and educational assistance to women and girls in need.
Women are strong, but women united are stronger. WOMEN RUN Inc was created by strong, multi-tasking, over-achieving women who run themselves ragged trying to do it all and be everything to everyone. We are just like you! We know your challenges, your fears, your hopes, and your dreams. You belong here. We use humor, camaraderie, and inspiration as an anti-anxiety prescription for the hectic daily run women love to hate.
CURIOUS ABOUT THE LOGO?
As women we wear many hats to run our busy lives, but truth be told, it’s the many shoes we wear that define our many roles. One day as Kyra was looking in her closet and planning her outfits for the busy day ahead - she had an epiphany. She pulled out a bunch of shoes and started sketching. The logo was born. The WOMEN RUN logo captures the emotional climate of multi-tasking woman who deserve to be acknowledged and celebrated. Women often run (or run often) to relieve stress and save their sanity!
THE WOMEN RUN STORY
THEY SAY A GIRL NEVER FORGETS HER FIRST…
I was 12 and it was my first road race. Immediately I felt a connection to the runners around me. Slow, fast, young, old. We all started and we all finished. Time was not important. Well, not that important. I was hooked! Running with friends in the neighborhood, we picked races based on small entry fees and cool tee shirts. I vowed one day I would start my own race with a cool tee shirt.
FAST FORWARD
As a mother of 3 young children and a business owner in a small town, I was constantly being asked to donate to local charities, but I was frustrated because I was not directly involved in the effort and I had no idea how my modest contribution could actually make a difference.
THE SOLUTION
became obvious when a Mother’s Day appeal arrived in the mail from a running buddy involved with the charity. Up to that point, my Mother’s Day tradition consisted of waking up far too early to drive to a road race to start Mother’s Day doing something just for me.
I suggested we start a Mother’s Day Race locally to raise money for this women-focused non-profit. It would be a win-win. I could sleep in, run a race, and raise money for a fabulous cause. For those of you who have organized such an event, you know I was crazy to think I’d be sleeping in or have time to actually run the race! However, I was able to design a fun tee shirt and raise a great deal of money. I saw the power of small organizations making a direct positive impact on women’s lives. After a few years of hosting the race, we decided to design & sell a hat to add to the bottom line. The words “WOMEN RUN” were uttered and a business idea was born. Unable to sleep that night, my head raced with all the things WOMEN RUN and how two simple words could help so many women & girls to stand on their own two feet and achieve their dreams. Purchase with a purpose. Let’s multi-task our way to goodness!
